This unique and limited edition is part of the mosaiced furniture collection which finds its inspiration in the mosaiced floors constructed during the Romanesque period which nowadays are often located under water as the water level rose during the centuries.
As the title suggests there is something more than the water element: The historical lockdown in 2020 which probably nobody will ever forget because of its very unique social and economic impact inspired us to create a piece which reflects this very serious subject in a light, playful and optimistic way. Inspired by the concept of social distance which is needed for helping, we designed a social love bench ensuring the spatial distance between two people even though when they sit together due to the empty space in between.
The bench is made of original Thonet chairs which's original sittings have been replaced with transparent acrylic and coloured tiles that are immersed in resin. The touch of lightness is amplified and renewed by both the colourful transparencies and the "openings" of the wooden structures.
Used materials: handcrafted wood, original Thonet chairs from the Thirties, epoxy resin, coloured acrylic
